Common types

Reference

Frequently used types and the properties most often needed for each. All types descend from Thing and inherit its properties such as name, description, url, and image.

Thing

The root type. Key properties: name, description, url, image, sameAs, identifier.

Organization

A company, school, or other group. Key properties: name, url, logo, address, contactPoint, sameAs.

LocalBusiness

A physical business. Inherits from Organization and Place. Key properties: address, geo, openingHours, telephone, priceRange.

Person

An individual. Key properties: name, jobTitle, worksFor, address, email, sameAs.

Product

A product or service offered for sale. Key properties: name, image, description, sku, brand, offers, aggregateRating, review.

Offer

An offer to sell. Key properties: price, priceCurrency, availability, url, priceValidUntil, itemCondition.

Article

A written work. Subtypes include NewsArticle and BlogPosting. Key properties: headline, author, datePublished, dateModified, publisher, image.

Event

An event happening at a time and place. Key properties: name, startDate, endDate, location, offers, performer, eventStatus.

Recipe

A cooking recipe, a subtype of CreativeWork. Key properties: name, recipeIngredient, recipeInstructions, cookTime, prepTime, nutrition, aggregateRating.

AggregateRating

A summary of ratings. Key properties: ratingValue, reviewCount, bestRating, worstRating.
